Hello and welcome to Alpha Phi at the University of North Dakota!

 

Founded by ten women at Syracuse University in 1872, Alpha Phi is a sisterhood that empowers and supports one another through lifelong achievement. We strive for sisterhood that lasts a lifetime and excellence in innovation. We practice and demonstrate generosity by giving back to the community we love. We stand to uphold these high ideals that build our character, as do all the Alpha Phi members across 170 college campuses.

 

My name is Marissa Thornton and I am the current Chapter President of Alpha Phi. I am so honored to help represent our amazing chapter here at UND! I joined Alpha Phi in the middle of my freshmen year after transferring colleges. After joining I found myself surrounded by strong, goofy, hardworking women, and ultimately my best friends in college! I have held two separate positions within our chapter as Vice President of Marketing during my sophomore year and now Chapter President my junior year!

 

Holding a position within any chapter is a privilege, one that I never expected obtaining. I ultimately changed my major thanks to my first position in the house as VP of Marketing, as I had such a strong passion for what I did for our chapter. Without Alpha Phi I would be a completely different person and living a completely different life. As Chapter President I have the opportunity to work with over 70 women daily and helping women find their way through college life here at UND. Emerge yourself into greek life, make connections, make life long friends, gain life experiences, have a role in something, ANYTHING, and ultimately become a better person thanks to greek life.
